Oh Captain! My Captain!

“OH CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN!” is a coming-of-age story about a wealthy, spoiled, white teenager who has been rescued from the sea by a family of black, poor, Bahamian fishermen. It is an adaptation of the great story by Rudyard Kipling, “Captains Courageous”.

After recently reading the script, actor Morgan Freeman said that, “Oh Captain! My Captain!” is the film he has always longed to make.

In the 1938 movie, “Captains Courageous”, Spencer Tracy won the Best Actor award for his lead role in the movie. Knowing that Mr. Freeman has made over 90 films and has been nominated three times as Best Actor, many feel that this film will finally garner him the Academy Award he so richly deserves.
