King Lear

Considered by many to be the greatest Shakespeare film ever made, The Merchant of Venice opened to worldwide critical praise for Al Pacino’s interpretation of Shylock, Michael Radford’s directorial vision, and the dark, atmospheric look of 16th century Venice for which production designer Bruno Rubeo was honoured by the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists.

The film received its world premiere as the opening film of the 2005 Venice Film Festival, and later that year was honoured with a Royal Premiere in London in presence of Prince Charles.
